Loan Information
On this page, we provide a general overview of the types of international education loans available, and who can apply for each. You can read through all the information contained here about each loan product to learn more about your particular situation; or simply start an application. International Student Loan
International students studying at an approved school in the United States can apply for a loan for up to the total cost of their education, minus any other aid received. All international students must have a US citizen or permanent resident as a co-signer on the loan. The co-signer must live in the United States for the past two years and have good credit.
Study Abroad Loan
US students, enrolled at an approved school in the United States, can apply for a loan to cover the cost of their study abroad program. The student must receive credit for the study abroad program at the home college or university in the United States.
Foreign Enrolled Loans
US students directly enrolled at an approved foreign school are eligible to apply for a foreign enrolled loan for up to the total cost of education, minus any other aid received. There are hundreds of approved schools around the world, including medical, dental, law and business schools.
Federal Student Stafford Loans
US students that need a student loan should complete the FAFSA and apply for Stafford Loans, in addition to applying for a foreign enrolled loan. Your school will maximize your federal loans before certifying your private loan, saving you money in the long run.
Canadian Student Loans
Just like any other international student, Canadian students who are enrolled in an approved US school, with a US co-signer, can apply for an international student loan to cover their tuition and expenses.
